WelcoMe to Ms. hernandez’ Class

Hello! My name is Ms. Hernandez and I am honored to be a staff member of Center for Advanced Learning.  I currently possess 15 years of progressive experience within the educational field; I have 9 years of experience as a teacher and 6 years of experience as a teacher assistant.  My professional history includes positions as a teacher for the Archdioceses of Los Angeles, Los Angeles Unified School District and Long Beach Unified School District.

My educational background begins with attending Long Beach City College and then transferring to California State Dominguez Hills, where I earned my Bachelor in Liberal Arts degree. I continued my educational background by earning my Masters Degree in Education from Loyola Marymount University, and my Clear Multiple Subject Teaching Credential from Mount St. Mary’s College.

Some additional attributes of mine include participating in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and assessing the instructional program consistent with the Los Angeles Archdiocese curriculum regulations and Board of Education goals. I also have experience with the preparation for WASC accreditation and coordinating the Archdiocese’s STEP Program on site, and was the department chair for Language Arts. As the Language Arts Chair member I coordinated the planning of selecting appropriate themes for the literature component of ELA for fifth to eighth grade that correlated with the standards for science and social studies.

I am pleased to welcome your son/daughter to this exciting school year. Through teaching I get to fulfill my passion of making a difference in a child’s life, and I strongly believe that working for an institution is more than a job, it is a devotion.

I firmly believe that every child is entitled to an enriched education in a safe, stable, and nurturing community that affirms the uniqueness and dignity of each student. My goal as an educator is to provide a stimulating learning environment that fosters confidence and encourages children to reach their full potential. Also, it is my responsibility to motivate students to help them find their inner and outer strengths and weakness, and to change any weaknesses into strengths through my continual support and guidance.
