CAL's Grading Policy

 
For the 2019-20 school year, CAL will be using standards-based grading. We believe each student is capable of reaching high standards set out in our state-adopted frameworks. Currently, we use the California Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts and Math, the California Content Standards in History/Social Science, and the Next Generation Standards for Science. 
 
Teachers are tracking progress weekly and our PowerTeacher student grading system takes an average of the last three assessment scores for each standard. A student's final Report Card score for each standard represents their achievement at the end of the trimester and does not average in low scores from early assessments. 
 
Report Cards are sent to the parents of all students three times a year, at the end of each trimester. Grading is completed by individual teachers in accordance with criteria determined by the school's teaching staff, using the following guidelines:
